Reena Saini Kallat

We are pleased to announce that Reena Saini Kallat will join mor charpentier as a represented artist.

Reena Saini Kallat, born in New Delhi (India) in 1973, currently lives and works in Mumbai.

Working across drawing, photography, sculpture, and video, Kallat explores ideas held in states of tension—mobility and obstruction, memory and erasure, hybridity and national narratives. Shaped in part by her family’s experience of the Partition, her practice reflects on political and social borders and the ways they divide land, people, and ecosystems.

Through research into histories of migration, contested natural resources, and archives of the disappeared, Kallat examines the violence embedded in state structures and the fragility of the legal frameworks meant to sustain them. Recurring elements in her work—such as hybrid forms and electrical wires twisted into barbed motifs—evoke the paradox between the free flow of information and the restrictions placed on bodies.

Kallat’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Modern, London; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, among others.
