Nohemí Pérez @Portland Art Museum

Discover Nohemí Pérez’s work at the latest Portland Art Museum exhibition TRACES, which reflects on the concepts of memory in contemporary art.

The exhibition is interested in depicting detailed stories regarding historical circumstances, evocating traces of people, events, or places, as remembrances of real experiences or imagined ones. In the show, Pérez is presenting some of her latest work of her series El Palmar, regarding the historic tension between nature and the contemporary inhabitant of the Catatumbo region through charcoal drawings and oil on canvas paintings. “Palmar” can refer to the trees of the area, but also can be used colloquially to mean “snuff out” or “kill.”

TRACES is open until February 26, 2023. Don’t miss it!
