Nohemí Pérez @Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

Discover Nohemí Pérez’s works in the current Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza exhibition “Colonial Memory in the Thyssen – Bornemisza Collections”.

The exhibition explores the colonial legacy embedded in works from the Thyssen-Bornemisza collections, highlighting how colonialism shaped modern Western society and continues to influence global relations. It examines selected paintings to reveal hidden narratives of racial domination, resistance, and civil rights struggles, as well as the development of the modern mercantile system based on European military control, enslaved African labor, and resource exploitation in the Americas, Asia, and Africa. This curatorial approach aims to decode colonial power structures within the iconography of the artworks, offering visitors a critical perspective on these historical representations.

The exhibition is on view until October 20, 2024. Don´t miss it!
