Bianca Bondi in Le Passage de Vénus in Musée départemental Arles Antique

We are pleased to share that @bondi_bianca is participating in 𝐿𝑒 𝑃𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝑑𝑒 𝑉𝑒́𝑛𝑢𝑠, a group exhibition presented at the Musée départemental Arles Antique and coproduced with the Musée du Louvre. Curated by romyroams , @llaugier1 , and Jean de Loisy, the exhibition brings together ancient and contemporary works exploring the enduring figure of Venus and her many symbolic associations.

For the exhibition, Bondi presents 𝐸𝑥-𝑣𝑜𝑡𝑜 (2026), a new installation inspired by Aphrodite’s origins as a goddess born from the sea. A layer of salt evokes the water and foam from which the deity emerged, while a dressing table, traditionally associated with intimate rituals of beauty, is transformed into a shrine dedicated to Venus.

The work made out of mirrors, bronze objects inlaid with semi-precious stones, shells, pearls, amphorae, relics, and preserved vegetation. Arranged as votive offerings rather than functional objects, these elements reflect Bondi’s ongoing interest in transformation, ritual, and material alchemy. Subjected to gradual processes of corrosion, the installation echoes the marine origins of Aphrodite while exploring cycles of renewal, fragility, and permanence.

Presented in dialogue with ancient representations of the goddess, including the remarkable Venus Marina from Roman antiquity, Bondi’s installation creates a contemporary space of devotion where mythology, nature, and material transformation converge.
