Discover Charwei Tsai’s installation The Womb & The Diamond at the latest Mori Art Museum 森美術館 exhibition Listen to the Sound of the Earth Turning: Our Wellbeing since the Pandemic.
The show explores ways to live this life in the midst of the pandemic, questioning the concept of “wellbeing” that is the holistic health of both body and mind, from multiple perspectives found in contemporary art.
The Womb & The Diamond is composed of an assemblage of pieces of glass and mirrors. The diagram is made in reference to The Womb & The Diamond Realm mandalas from Koyasan in Japan. Known for writing mantras on ephemeral materials, Tsai experiments with using breath and the sound vibration of reciting mantras to form each glass piece. This assemblage is accompanied by spiral drawings of pictograms, made out of a process from which the artist contemplates on the meaning of each word
Listen to the Sound of the Earth Turning: Our Wellbeing since the Pandemic is open until November the 6th, 2022. Don’t miss it!
