The heads in question on view in PUSH THE LIMIT 2 at Fondazione Merz

We are pleased to announce Rossella Biscotti being a part of PUSH THE LIMITS 2, a must-see group show at Fondazione Merz.

In this second edition, the exhibition focuses on the potency of art as a political message, bringing together twenty women artists whose works challenge cultural, social, and geographic limits.

Within this context, Biscotti presents The Heads in Question (2015), a work that revisits a complex chapter of Italian history. Originating from bronze heads of King Vittorio Emmanuele III and Benito Mussolini, commissioned for the Universal Exhibition of 1942 but never displayed, the artist shows their coloured silicone and acrylic resin casts. These fragmented forms retain a link to the originals while subverting their celebratory intent. Revealing Biscotti’s interest in the critical space the cast can open. Reproduced in coloured resin and silicone, fragmented and translucent, the work leaves no room for nostalgia, instead proposing new ways of thinking about the future and the persistence of power’s imagery.

On view from 27 October 2025 to 1 February 2026, PUSH THE LIMITS 2 highlights the role of art in confronting memory and reshaping collective narratives.
