Las abuelas poderosas : The first solo show of Guadalupe in Colombia

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming show, Las abuelas poderosas, the first solo show of Guadalupe Maravilla in Colombia.

Born in El Salvador in 1976, Guadalupe is an artist, humanitarian, and healer. At the age of eight, during the Civil War in El Salvador, he was part of the first wave of children displaced and separated from their families due to the violence of the war. Seeking refuge, he crossed the U.S. border and grew up in the United States, eventually obtaining citizenship in 2006. These experiences deeply inform his work, which transforms personal history into a visual and ritual mythology where art and healing converge.

For Las abuelas poderosas (The Powerful Grandmothers), Guadalupe Maravilla presents painting shrines, volcanic stone sculptures, mural drawings, and altars. These works explore three fundamental aspects of his life and practice: spirituality, collective healing, and migration. By fusing ancestral heritage with contemporary experiences, the pieces become ritual instruments of healing, inviting viewers into a space where memory, resilience, and community come together.
