Alexander Apóstol in Condemned to be Modern at the LA Municipal Art Gallery
The work of Alexander Apóstol will be featured in “Condemned to be modern” which includes the works of 21 artists, who have responded critically to the history of modernist architecture in Latin America. The group show starts Sunday, September 10th and closes January 18th 2018, at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
Yoshua Okón in the Torrance Museum
The Torrance Art Museum will present the 2015 project Yoshua Okón: Oracle , a multi-channel video installation exploring immigration, borders and nationalism. This exhibit is part of the Pacific Standard Time LA/LA initiative and will be available September 09, 2017 – November 04, 2017.
Liliana Porter in How to Read el Pato Pascual
Liliana Porter’s work will be included in the exhibit How to Read El Pato Pascual: Disney’s Latin America and Latin America’s Disney, a Pacific Standard Time exhibition of over 150 works by 48 Latin American artists who investigate and challenge nearly 100 years of cultural influence between Latin America and Disney, on view Sep 9- Jan 14.
Teresa Margolles in The U.S-Mexico Border: Place, imagination and possibility
The work of Teresa Margolles will be included in The U.S-Mexico Border: Place, imagination and possibility as part of the Pacific Standard Time LA/LA initiative from 10/09/17 to 07/01/18 at CAFAM. The group exhibition explores the border as a physical reality/place, as a subject/imagination, and as a site for production/solution (possibility).
Carlos Motta: The Crossing at the Stedelijk Museum
Carlos Motta’s newly commissioned two-part installation of videos and objects will be on view at the Stedelijk Museum from 16/9/17 to 21/1/18. In The Crossing, Carlos Motta presents video portraits of eleven LGBTQI refugees who speak about their experiences before, during and after the exodus from their homelands to the Netherlands.
