Uriel Orlow
Uriel Orlow est né en 1973 à Zurich
Il vit et travaille actuellement à Londres
Uriel Orlow a étudié au Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design de Londres, à la Slade School of Art, University College London et à l’Université de Genève, où il obtient un doctorat en arts platiques en 2002.
Il réalise des installations modulaires et multidisciplinaires qui réactivent la mémoire cachée de lieux marqués par l’histoire. A travers des films, des photographies, des dessins, des pièces sonores ou des conférences-performances, il confronte ainsi différents régimes d’images et modes de narration,

Uriel Orlowtravail a été largement exposé dans des musées et des galeries, notamment à Londres à la Tate Modern, à la Tate Britain, à la Whitechapel Gallery, à l’ICA et à Gasworks; à Paris au Palais de Tokyo, Fondation Ricard, Maison Populaire, Bétonsalon; à Zurich au Kunsthaus, Les Complices*, Helmhaus et Shedhalle; à Genève au Centre d’Art Contemporain et au Centre de la Photographie; ainsi qu’à Berlin, Ramallah, Marseille, Le Caire, Alexandrie, Istanbul, Mexico, Dublin, Saint-Sébastien, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver et ailleurs.
Ses films ont été projetés à l’Oberhausen Short Film Festival; au Festival du Film de Locarno; à Videoex, Zurich; au Centre Pompidou, Paris; au BFI, Londres; au Kino der Kunst, Munich; et à la Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement, Genève.
En 2020, Uriel Orlow a reçu le prix CF Meyer et en 2017, le prix de la Biennale de Sharjah. Il a également remporté le prix d’art de la ville de Zurich en 2015, et le Swiss Art Award en 2008, 2009 et 2012.
Une monographie majeure intitulée Theatrum Botanicum est parue chez Shelter Press en 2018.
