Rossella Biscotti est née en 1978 à Molfetta, Italie
Elle vit et travaille entre Bruxelles et Rotterdam
Rossella Biscotti utilise le montage comme un geste pour révéler des récits individuels et leur relation à la société. Par le biais du film, de la performance ou de la sculpture, elle explore et reconstruit des évènements sociaux et politiques récents à travers la subjectivité et les expériences d’individus souvent en marge du système institutionnel, révélant ainsi des récits officieux ou oubliés. L’artiste s’intéresse notamment à la potentialité de nouvelles narrations et de leur insertion au sein de la société, cette reconstruction permet de s’interroger sur notre perception des évènements passés et d’envisager quel écho ils peuvent avoir aujourd’hui.
Rossella Biscotti est diplômée de l’Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples en 2002 et de la Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten à Amsterdam en 2010-2011. Elle a participé à des expositions internationales majeures telles que la 55ème Biennale de Venise (2013); la 13ème Biennale d’Istanbul (2013); Documenta 13, Kassel (2012); et Manifesta 9, Genk (2012).
Son travail a fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions personnelles : Witte de With, Rotterdam (2019); Fondazione Ratti, Come (2019); daadgalerie, Berlin (2019); Kunsthaus Baselland, Bâle (2018); Protocinema Istanbul (2018); GULAG History State Museum, Moscou (2016), Museion Bolzano (2015); Haus Lange Haus Esters, Krefeld (2014); WIELS, Bruxelles (2014); Sculpture Center, New York (2014); Secession, Vienne (2013); e-flux, New York (2013); CAC Vilnius (2012).

Rossella Biscotti a reçu plusieurs prix dont le ACACIA Prize for Contemporary Art (2017), le Premio della 16e Quadriennale d’Arte di Roma (2016), le Mies van der Rohe Stipendium, (2013), le Premio Michelangelo de la XIV International Sculpture Biennale de Carrare (2010), le 2ème Prix de Rome aux Pays-Bas (2009), le City of Geneva Grand Prize de la 12ème Biennial of Moving Images (2007), et le Premio NY – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs en collaboration avec l’Italian Academy et la Columbia University de New York (2006).
