Milena Bonilla
Milena Bonilla nació en 1975 en Bogotá
Actualmente vive y trabaja en Amsterdam
La práctica de Milena Bonilla, profundamente basada en la investigación, se centra actualmente en el colonialismo como epistemología y en las diferentes formas en que afecta a los organismos, el lenguaje y las estructuras sociales. Identificando patrones, vacíos y silencios dentro de narrativas históricas especificas, la artista establece tensiones entre modelos politicos predeterminados y usos del conocimiento. Estos ejercicios conceptuales y de la percepción aparecen entretejidos entre las variadas manifestaciones materiales de su trabajo.
Después de estudiar Artes Visuales en la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano en Bogotá, Bonilla estudió en la Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten en Amsterdam entre 2009 y 2010.
Su trabajo ha sido presentado en múltiples instituciones y eventos internacionales como Garage, Rotterdam, Países Bajos; The Mistake Room, Los Angeles; el Rijksmuseum, Ámsterdam; Ar/Ge Kunst, Bolzano, Italia; Kadist, San Francisco; el Jewish Museum, Nueva York; el MAMM, Medellín, Colombia; Spring Workshop, Hong Kong; CA2M, Madrid; MNBA, Buenos Aires; The Photographer’s Gallery y el International Institute of Visual Arts, Londres; Witte de With, Rotterdam, Países Bajos; Konstall C, Estocolmo; la Bienal de Marrakech, Marruecos; la 10a Bienal de La Habana; la 12a Bienal de Estambul; la 9a Bienal de Shanghai y la 3a Bienal de Bucarest.
En 2017, Milena Bonilla recibió el Work Award Proven Talent otorgado por el Mondriaan Fonds.
