Fredi Casco

Fredi Casco was born in 1967 in Asuncion, Paraguay, where he lives and works.

A visual artist, writer and director, Fredi Casco is also editor of the the South American magazine Sueño de la Razón. He co-founded El Ojo Salvaje (Month of Photography in Paraguay) and also the independent publishing house Ediciones de la Ura in Asunción.

His work has been shown at the Biennial of Mercosul (Porto Alegre, Brazil) in 2001 and 2005; at the Biennial of Valencia (Spain) in 2007; in the exhibition Efecto Downey, Fundación Telefónica in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2006; at the Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art in Greece in 2009; at the Havana Biennial, Cuba, in 2009; at the Venice Biennial, Italy, in 2013 and in the group exhibition America Latina, 1960 – 2013 Photographs, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Paris, France) in 2013, among many others.

His works are part of permanent collections including the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Paris, France; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA; and the Museo del Barro / CAV, Asunción, Paraguay.

In 2013, Fredi Casco directed with Renate Costa the film Revuelta(s) for the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Paris, France).
